The Domestic Violence committee has now finished the jewelry tree to give to The Spring for holiday giving.
Because domestic violence is a family affair, we need to keep in mind that children are also survivors. Children in homes where one parent is abused may feel fearful and anxious. They may always be on guard, wondering when the next violent event will happen.
Our contact at The Spring told me a story about a woman who came in with 3 small children. The staff let the children pick bags of jewelry off the tree for their mom. They were supposed to wait till Christmas to give the gifts to mom but were so excited that they ran up to her and had to show her what they picked out for her right away.
What we’re doing with the donation of the jewelry tree not only impacts the woman survivor but brings joy to the children. You can be assured that your contributions are making a difference in the lives of all of the survivors.
